Important Information

 

 

Senior ParentsBe aware Mrs. Wisdom made copies of the 2011 FAFSA (Federal Application for Student Aid) and your son/daughter will get a copy this week in Mrs. Haislip’s room.  Make sure you ask your child for this information.  Remember, you can file a FAFSA after Jan 1, 2011.  Once you complete your taxes, you will use that information to complete your FAFSA.  If you do not feel comfortable trying to complete it yourself, you may attend College Goal Sunday on Feb. 20th to receive free assistance in completing the FAFSA.  Regardless of parent’s income level, seniors must complete a FAFSA if they intend to go to college.  And, keep in mind, those students who have completed the Youniversal application in order to be considered for the Arkansas Challenge, as well as various other scholarships, must also complete a FAFSA in order to receive scholarship money.

 

Reminder to seniors eligible for the Governor’s Scholars and/or Governor’s Distinguished Scholars Scholarships – Application deadline is Feb. 1, 2011.  You apply by simply filling out the Youniversal application online @ www.adhe.edu by the Feb. 1st deadline.  Remember, to be eligible for the Governor’s Scholar Program, seniors must have a 27 ACT or a 3.00 GPA and it is worth $4,000 a year for 4 years.  One student from each county will receive this scholarship.  To be eligible for the Governor’s Distinguished Scholarship, seniors must have a 32 ACT composite score and a 3.50 GPA in academic courses or be a National Merit and National Achievement Finalists.  Up to 300 Distinguished Scholarships will be given and it is worth $10,000 a year for 4 years.

 

Youniversal Application now available for seniors -  Mrs. Wisdom wants you to know the Youniversal Scholarship application is now available for 2011 seniors for the Governor’s Scholarship, Academic Challenge, Go Grant, etc.  The application is available at the ADHE home page at www.adhe.edu, click on the Youniversal scholarship application link.

 

Final deadline Feb 1st  - Seniors applying to U of A, Fayetteville – The 2011 Arkansas Alumni Association Scholarship Application is now available at www.arkansasalumni.org/scholarships.  Minimum criteria to apply:  incoming freshmen admitted as degree-seeking student to U of A; 3.60 high school GPA; ACT composite of 24.  Priority deadline is Dec. 15, 2010;  final deadline is Feb. 1st, 2011
